OK. I've been thinking about this for a while and it drives me completely nuts. How are Gin Blossoms still on the radio? We're talking about songs that are 15 years old! Do we really believe that this music has that much true staying power? The Gin Blossoms are not classic! They do not belong on the radio for this long! It's this generic alternative pop music that could be the theme song to a sitcom. Think of all the other lame mid-nineties bands that sounded like that: Hootie and the Blowfish, Soul Asylum, The Refreshments, Toad the Wet Sprocket, etc. Do you still hear them all the time?! I mean, maybe every now and then, but pay attention to how often you hear the Gin Blossoms in public places. I'm going to guess that I probably hear at least one Gin Blossoms song a day against my will, and that's just not right. How is this happening? My hypothesis: their daddies are some sort of super-music industry big wigs who manage to get their songs everywhere. That's the only feasible explanation. Somehow this needs to stop! (The same can be said for Sugar Ray's 3 hits)
